Why Your Sports Supplements Aren’t Working Anymore

For as long as I can remember there have been both positive and negative benefits of taking dietary supplements, the positive benefits of many supplements come to a screeching halt once they stop working.

In this article, I will discuss why sometimes sports supplements stop working and what you can do to improve their effectiveness.

I have been using dietary supplements for over a decade, besides getting my regular dose of Vitamins C, D, and E, I also take sports supplements.

If you have taken supplements in the past and found they did not offer and noticeable benefit, you are not alone, sometimes they just don’t work, other times t has more to do with your body’s tolerance.

Does your body build up a tolerance?

In a way it does, if you have ver used supplements before you may have noticed that when you first began taking a supplement you started to notice changes right away. After a couple of weeks, the effects seemed to have diminished.

It’s not because the supplements stopped working, what has happened is that your brain and body have balanced themselves.

Regardless of the kind of supplements you are taking be it for strength, energy, or fat loss eventually they will stop working, or their effects tend to wear off.

This is not because supplements stop working, it’s because your body tries to strike a balance and eventually does, essentially your body gets used to certain nutrients it gets.

Vitamin supplements are a little different, in that if you take too much of any vitamin the body will do its best to eliminate the excess.

How to prevent your body from building up a tolerance?

The first thing to do is to take a close look at the supplements you are going to buy, many sports supplements contain similar ingredients.

For example, sports supplement brands sell different products but many of them have common ingredients. This is one of the reasons some people feel that one supplement may have worked better than another.

What sometimes is not realized is the bot supplements may have similar ingredients, that is why it’s important to take a close look at the ingredients in your supplements.

As an example, there are many supplements that are used for fat loss, some of them contain things like Garcinia Cambogia, Citrus Aurantium, Green tea extract, and l-Carnitine.

Many supplements bundle similar ingredients for effective fat loss, it would not make sense to buy two different supplements that contain almost the same or similar ingredients.

Before purchasing any supplements it’s important to read the label of ingredients carefully to ensure you are not buying another supplement with the same ingredients.

Take a break after a couple of months

Sports supplements are most effective during the first 6-8 weeks of use. In fact, many supplements like Crazy Bulk recommend taking any supplement for no more than 2 months and then suspending it for at least a couple of weeks. This prevents your body from getting used to it.

I have personally noticed that I get the best results with taking most supplements for 8 weeks suspending for a few weeks and then begin the cycle again.

Conclusion

The next time you feel that your sports supplements have stopped working they may have, especially if you have been taking them for several months.

Sports supplements without a doubt deliver the best results during the first 6-8 weeks, it takes about a week for the benefits to kick in.

After several weeks you may notice the benefit may start to dwindle. When this occurs it’s best to suspend them for a few weeks. This process is called cycling, most people will get the best results when cycling any supplement for four to six weeks, suspending for a few weeks, and then resume the process.

Probiology a Probiotic Made for Women

Probiology is a probiotic supplement made up of microorganisms and good bacteria which help women keep their bodies healthy and working well.

Probiotics help balance both good and bad bacteria. They are beneficial when a person suffers from an illness. However, at the time of infection, the good bacteria become weak, and harmful bacteria start attacking them, which is how the bacterial misbalance happens.

In order to maintain a healthy body and maintain a healthy balance of gut bacteria sometimes, it’s necessary to eat certain foods or take probiotic supplements to get your gut balance back to normal levels.

Benefits of taking Probiology

Well, there are several reasons why women should consider taking Probiology.

Probiology’s most essential aim is to improve an individual’s health. It contains ingredients that promote good bacteria that help fight many diseases and can even treat them by balancing microorganisms.

Weight loss

Probiotics are living organisms and have several benefits when eaten, such as weight loss. They can be found in fermented food and supplements. It improves the digestive and immune systems, which helps lose weight and belly fat. In addition, microorganisms help in the breakdown of fiber in your body, which the body cannot digest.

After the breakdown of fiber, it converts fiber into acid, which benefits the digestive system. The majority of good bacteria contain vitamins like vitamin K and vitamin B.

There are two types of good bacteria in the gut: bacteroidetes and firmicutes. These two bacteria are responsible for body fat, and probiotics help to balance these bacteria.

Vaginal health

One probiotic strain can be very resourceful for preventing and treating vaginal infections: Bacterial Vaginosis (BV). There are more than 50 species of microorganisms called microbiomes that live inside the vagina.

Lactobacilli are the microbiome responsible for keeping the vagina clean and infection-free. Unfortunately, the reduction of lactobacilli can create a misbalance of microorganisms in the vagina, which can be due to several reasons.

During menstrual cycles

When one does not maintain good hygiene habits, the vaginal imbalance can result in Itching, discharge, and a fishy odor.

In addition, this imbalance can cause BV or yeast infection.
BV (Bacterial vaginosis)

The most common infection caused due to imbalance of bacteria in the vagina is Bacterial vaginosis.

Women suffering from BV have a high number of bacteria in the vagina. On the other hand, healthy women have a smaller number of microorganisms in their vaginas. Women with BV often suffer with

A fishy odor

Burning of the vagina during urination

A milky vaginal discharge and Itching

Some activities can be dangerous for the vagina, such as:

Having frequent sex with more than one partner or having a new sex partner.

Cleaning the vagina with soap or shampoo with water can interrupt the natural cleaning process of the vagina.

BV treatment often includes antibiotics, and probiotics can be very effective because they balance good and bad bacteria.

Yeast infection

Another type of vaginal imbalance is a yeast infection. Yeast infection is often caused by fungus; the most common fungus is Candida Albicans. Good bacteria work as guards to check the growth of fungus, but at the time of bacterial imbalance, the reduction of lactobacilli can make fungus grow out inside the vagina.

Symptoms of yeast infection are

Irritations

A thick white or watery discharge from the vagina

Intense Itching in the vulva

Burning of the vagina during sexual activities or urination.

Pain and vaginal rashes

Several reasons that can cause yeast infection are as follow

Consumption of antibiotics because they can create an imbalance between good and bad bacteria. Antibiotics kill the good bacteria in the vagina.

During the pregnancy

Diabetes

Weak immune system

Birth control pills or other types of oral contraceptives. It increases the estrogen level.

Antifungal medicines can quickly cure yeast infections. These medicines are available in the form of creams, ointments, vaginal suppositories, and tablets.

Probiotics for PH balance

Vaginas are on the acidic side because the acidic environment for the vagina helps to keep the vagina clean and protected. In addition, it helps to reduce the growth of yeast or any other vaginal infection. PH of the vagina lies between the scale of 3.8 to 5.0.

Constipation

Bowel movement in the stomach more than three times a week is a well-known sign of constipation. Constipation happens due to the absorption of too much water from the waste (stool) in your body by the colon, making the stool very dry and hard, which can be very difficult to push out of your body. It can cause internal damage and can be responsible for other health problems.

What causes constipation?

There are many causes by which constipation can occur to any individual, like lifestyle, medication, medical condition, and pregnancy.

A woman can suffer from constipation during her pregnancy and also after childbirth. This is because the baby inside her womb squishes directly into the intestine, which can make the passage of stool very hard.

Older women are prone to constipation because they are less active, making their metabolism slower. Apart from this, they have less muscle contraction along with their digestive system, making stool harder to pass out from their body.

The Diet of a different person may vary. a lack of fiber in your diet can cause constipation. High-fiber food keeps moving food through the digestive system.

Natural Probiotics

Consuming supplements to get probiotics is one of the easiest ways to ensure you are getting enough probiotics in your diet. However, one can also take them from natural things like fermented food. Some of the natural probiotics are listed below.

1. Natto: it is a type of fermented soybean product that contains Bacillus subtitles bacterial strain.

2. Pickles: one can easily make pickles at home with the help of salt and water. Take some cucumbers and preserve them in a solution of salt and water.

3. Tempeh: This is also a type of fermented soybean like Natto. It forms a patty that tastes like soybean.

Natural probiotics are readily available in dairy or usually at home. If any individual finds it difficult to eat natural probiotics, they can consider taking supplements. Supplements also contain a lot of good bacteria and help eliminate health problems.

When women are unable to get natural probiotics in their diet the next best thing would be to consider taking a probiotic supplement.

The problem with many Probiotic supplements is that many are generic and lack ingredients that women need.

Why Probiology is different

Probiology is different because it is suited especially for women and offers high-quality ingredients not found in other products.

Probiology contains a proprietary blend of 40,000 CFU colony-forming units this is the specific number of bacterial cells that can multiply to form a colony in a lab sample.

Probiology uses something called Maketrek “Bypass technology” which is a patented formula that improves the absorption of probiotics within the body.

Other ingredients in Probiology include:

Lactobacillus Acidophilus

Bifidobacterium Lactis

Lactobacillus plantarum

Lactobacillus paracasei

One of the best things about Probiology is that even those who are on special diets can take this supplement.

Unlike other probiotic supplements, Probiology contains no dairy, soy or gluten. It is a non-gmo product with no preservatives and it is carefully made in a USA-certified facility.

So is Probiology right for you?

If you are struggling with digestive health issues, poor vaginal health or just don’t feel good, the state of your digestive tract and gut health may have a lot to do with it.

If you just want to improve your health Probiology can work for you.

Probiology is easy to use, just take two capsules once in the morning and one in the evening and you should notice a big difference in your digestion and the way you feel after just a few days.

Essential Vitamins and Minerals Women Need

Regardless of your activity level women need certain nutrients to maintain good health. The requirements change as women age, if you work out and lead an active lifestyle there are essential vitamins and minerals you may want to consider taking.

In this article, I will share with you the vitamins I have learned are essential for women, and the ones that women need.

Getting the right vitamins and minerals will not only help you stay healthy many of these can help strengthen your immune system.

If you read the guidelines from many popular health websites they all recommend a list of vitamins and minerals they consider essential, these include:

Magnesium

Folic acid

Calcium

Zinc

Vitamin D

Vitamin C

Vitamin B12

Iron

Why are these vitamins and minerals important?

Because, each one can have a positive health benefit that includes giving your great, hair, glowing skin, strong bones, and more energy.

Most women especially those who are active may not be getting enough of these vitamins and minerals, even though your diet is good, you may not be getting enough f the nutrients with food alone, which is where supplementation can help.

Many companies sell multivitamins that contain the nutrients you need, some of them make formulas made just for women.

Let’s take a look at how these vitamins and minerals can help maintain a healthy body.

Magnesium

Magnesium is a mineral found in plants, animals, sea, and earth. Most of the magnesium in our body is found in the bones.

Magnesium can help boost energy and athletic performance, it helps ensure your muscles get enough blood sugar. The other benefit is that it helps eliminate lactic acid buildup in the muscles which causes soreness after exercise.

Supplementing with magnesium can help women of all ages and help elderly people who suffer from chronic disease.

Magnesium has been shown to reduce inflammation in the bones and joints.

Foods that contain magnesium include:

Avocados

Dark chocolate

Legumes

Nuts

Tofu

Whole grains

Calcium

Women of all ages need calcium, this is one of the most important minerals women need to help maintain strong bones, a healthy heart and it even helps promote weight loss.

If you read the ingredients in many weight loss supplements you will notice many of the contain calcium, these help with weight loss. A lack of calcium causes the release of parathyroid hormone causing this can cause the production of excess body fat and prevents it from breaking down.

Women with calcium deficiencies affect women as they get older and is one of the main causes of the onset of osteoporosis.

Vitamin D is needed for optimum calcium absorption.

Besides taking supplements that contain calcium there are several foods you can consume that are rich in calcium, these include most dairy products, including cheese, milk, and yogurt. Beans and lentils are also a good source of calcium as well as sardines and salmon.

Folic acid

Folic (folate) may help prevent birth defects and has also been shown to prevent the risk of hypertension (High blood pressure).

Folic acid is a B vitamin found in green leafy vegetables, fruits, and beans.

Many dietary supplements contain folic acid.

Getting enough folic acid in your diet is important because it is responsible for helping your body produce and maintain healthy cells. Women who do not get enough folic acid run the risk of becoming anemic.

Folic acid may help resist changes in DNA and may prevent the development of cancer.

Zinc

Zinc is a mineral that is essential for our health, it can help boost our immune system by fighting toxins and foreign substances that may get you sick. This mineral helps develop something called T-cells which help your body fight off virus-infected and cancerous cells.

Zinc helps your body heal faster

Zinc interacts with the body’s blood platelets and helps with blood clotting, thus is ensures proper healing when you get a cut or scratched.

Zinc helps regulate blood sugar

We all know how prevalent type II diabetes has become, this is caused by irregular insulin levels.

Zinc helps regulate insulin storage and regulates its release in the pancreas. A deficiency in zinc can affect insulin levels which is often responsible for changes in your appetite and fluctuating blood sugar levels.

Zinc helps metabolize protein, carbs, and fat if your body lacks zinc you feel lethargic with no energy and you may find it hard to lose weight.

Foods rich in zin include oysters, red meat, cooked lobster, and fortified breakfast cereals.

oysters, 3 ounces (oz): 74 mg

beef patty, 3 oz: 5.3 mg

Alaska king crab, 3 oz: 6.5 mg

fortified breakfast cereal, 3/4 cup serving: 3.8 mg

cooked lobster, 3 oz: 3.4 mg
